The health care debate has moved to the U.S. Senate. Please take a moment to urge Senators Burr and Tillis to oppose legislation like the AHCA that cuts Medicaid and eliminates critical consumer protections.
The AHCA cuts funding for Medicaid and hurts kids with disabilities.
Medicaid is a children’s program—over ½ of all Medicaid recipients in North Carolina and nationally are children. Medicaid is also the best insurance program for children with disabilities and other special needs, because federal law requires every state Medicaid program to provide all “medically necessary” services to all enrolled children. The AHCA would cap and cut federal funding for Medicaid by hundreds of billions of dollars over the next 10 years, which would jeopardize this guarantee, reduce access to critical services, and put children with disabilities and their families at risk.
The AHCA eliminates key consumer protections for children and families.
Additionally, the AHCA will hurt children and families by allowing states to eliminate protections for consumers with pre-existing conditions and by allowing states to waive bans on annual and lifetime limits on coverage. This leaves children and families vulnerable to devastating health and financial consequences.
Please take action now.
